Woodbilly

Woodbilly is a settlement in the Fallow Marches on the Old Trade Road situated on the east bank of the Castella River. It is placed thirty miles downstream of Tamwood Fork, and ten upstream of the Minotaur village of Lower Gort.

History

Woodbilly was founded about two hundred and twenty years ago by several large families fleeing some sort of persecution at the hands of one of the numerous branches of the noble House Sorland in the Asterian Empire. The refugees chose this site for their new home on the advice of the Champion of Hope who was leading them to safety.

Population

Woodbilly is home to just under two hundred fauns, and one human who serves as the village witch. The community is host to a rare occult art known as Beastsinging, affording beastmaster level control over simple animals, and faily comprehensive healing for them as well.

Economy

The village's primary source of income is through serving trade caravans on the Old Trade Road. The village engages in sufficient farming and forestry to handle its daily needs, and hosts a significant swine population. Additional income comes through trading some fraction of their luxury harvest: truffles.

NPCs of Note

  • Dale the Witchling: A human male in his mid twenties who takes care of Woodbilly's occult needs that are not handled by either the Beastsingers, or their priest. Dale is a bit easy to fluster, and while he says he is in a relationship, it does not appear to be with any of the Faunish women who amuse themselves by flirting with him.
  • Eigar Blackhoof: Village elder, senior among the Blackhoof families of the village, and a talented Beastsinger.
  • Kella Whitehorn: Village elder, and active head of the Whitehorn families. Sala's niece.
  • Sala Whitehorn: Village elder, oldest living member of the Whitehorn families, and priestess of The Wood. Sala is unmarried, and while in good health, is showing some mental signs of her age.
  • Umbar Greenjacket: Village elder, leads the Greenjacket families, and master farmer. Ranges from apathetic to distrustful when it comes to outsiders.
