Twilight of Empires is a fantasy campaign using the HERO System 5th edition rules. It will be set in the same world as the previous Crosswinds campaign, however thousands of years prior, when many of the fundamental rules that govern reality were different, all thanks to the upcoming First Sorcerer's War.

“It all began with a stone, or so the legend says. In ages past, the glorious jewel, enormous and beautiful, banished the Darkness. It's many-colored light filled the world with life and brought forth mighty gods. Bathed in that light, the world entered an age of bliss, until after a time, the gods fell into slumber. That world was called Lunistria.”

In the twelve-hundredth and sixty third year of the Imperial Era, the great empires of old were well into their inevitable slide into decadence and decay. Warlords rose and fell on the fringes of the civilized world with relentless regularity, and outlying regions of the great powers found themselves either abandoned, or overburdened to the point of rebellion. New powers, such as the Sorcerer's League and the Wizard's Octogram Council were on the rise, though not yet serious threats to the political (or physical) structure of the world.

Against this backdrop the players will find themselves seeking their place in the world. Their story is as yet unwritten, but should their path lead to glory or tragedy, it is theirs alone to follow.
